The Business of Arts and Entertainment is designed to help students identify their own artistic, communication, and business strengths as it applies to the entertainment industry. This course brings awareness to the numerous jobs, skills, and opportunities in the workforce. Entrepreneurship and EconomicsAntwain Debnam teaches Entrepreneurship and Financial Literacy to Worldwide Voices participants. In his courses, students are shown the process of turning any idea into a reality. Student learn the steps to setting up a business, how to research and apply for a patent, putting together a pitch deck, marketing, the difference between an asset and a liability, and the power of networking. In this program, students work to identify their goals and positive influences, and build on their natural charisma, so they can claim an active role in the development of their family and friendships, health, education and careers. Students discuss goal setting and how to plan for success. Students identify their short and long term goals, and work on a presentation of their vision. Media Literacy & ProductionDuane Pierre teaches Media Literacy to WWVoices Youth. His courses are designed to educate youth on how to be media creators instead of just media consumers. Students learn how to operate the latest devices, technologies, applications, and platforms. Students will learn the basics on podcasting, making a web series, marketing and online sales. STEM (STEAM & STREAM)Dr. Stacey “STEM” Williams teaches a variety of STEM courses for World Wide Voices. Her classes include “Green Energy” where students research wind turbine and solar power then build scale models to demonstrate their benefits. “The Science of Urban Community Development” where students build an energy efficient and technologically savvy model home.
In this program , students will research homes in their neighborhoods, get a chance to take home tours, and meet real estate agents . Students will then learn what it takes to build and maintain a home being introduced to construction, mortgages, home buying options, and green energy technology. Students will take this knowledge to design a technologically savvy home for the 21st century.
